What Is the Number Fallacy?

The Number Fallacy
The Number Fallacy?
The number fallacy is the mistaken belief that it is all right to kill some animals because they are numerous, eg foxes, coyotes, kangaroos. It is an attitude entrenched among hunters and nature conservationists. They do not notice the suffering they inflict on individuals and their social groups, nor the immorality of cutting short otherwise relatively long lives. Bison numbered in their millions, were shot out almost when extinct.  They now number in their thousands. Passenger pigeons flew in their billions and are now extinct. The last passenger pigeon died at an American zoo in 1914. How many numerous species are symbols of humanity’s destruction and indifference to nature and animal life?
